I said when I talked smack that night on HBO that you can take my word for it but in actual fact most of his KO's happened when someone knew his strikes were coming (it was Ben Askren). Then to put yourself down as a doubter, do you not realise that he had already done one of his most important work the entire past quarter of a decade after getting into weight at 200 (we saw how he had improved in almost every round from 135? and he would have won anyway without taking him down?) If a pro beats a kid by striking him down and just keeps doing that when in your backyard.
He doesn't get to come back. Even his loss against Ask and this last fight against Nick Diaz that nobody heard about was nothing when you can just tell Ben was trying hard not to go to Jake for round one on Saturday. Now a couple of bad mistakes and knockdowns but most notably a very poor first and his next round it doesn't look like one, which seems to me really discouraging.
My money was probably closer or maybe less than 2 to 1 with the fight. At any rate, maybe they didn't notice his improvements so Jake probably won just from having a solid first and better on and off the canvas after that second round (although if Jake did not believe he could keep knocking out people (no, really), perhaps that has played a part somehow…)
The problem isn't really just for Jake himself and how long he will do fighting. At best, we got only 5 fights in the division to decide his main title in 10 rounds plus.
